Ladd Carriage House This 6,680 sq ft building is one of the beloved landmark structures in the city and here's the opportunity to purchase it. The building was construced in 1883 by William S. Ladd to house his horses and store carraiges and had living quarters for a coachman on the upper floors. Ladd was one of the most prominent citizens in Portland and served as the city's fifth mayor in 1854. The Carriage House was built directly across Broadway from Ladd's primary residence, which was demolished and replaced with the Oregonian Building. The building was lifted off its foundation and moved for construction of a parking garage and Ladd Tower at the site. In fall of 2008, the Carriage House will be moved back to its original site and positioned on top of a new foundation covering a multi-story garage below. The Carriage House will be bordered on the north and west by the First Christian Church's private courtyard. Additional
